    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Galveston Bay Refinery’s Maintenance Department is seeking a candidate for Heavy Equipment Operator Craft Supervisor position. This position will report to an Area Maintenance Superintendent and/or the Craft Manager. Duties will include prioritization and coordination of daily maintenance activities, managing individual and team performance in the safe and efficient execution of maintenance activities, working with other resources to improve equipment reliability, and promoting Management’s mission within the hourly workforce.

     

    **Multiple positions will be filled under this posting. The schedule could include Monday through Thursday, 10-hour days and/or straight night shift rotation.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Arrange toolbox and lineup meetings. Including safety topics that are relevant to the work that will be performed that day and monitor for compliance.

    + Ensure that the crafts are following all PPE requirements by wearing and maintaining PPE correctly.

    + Perform daily job visits to monitor and ensure craft performance and identify and remove any barriers.

    + Responsible for walking down next day’s scheduled work to understand craft and material requirements and to understand the scope of the job.

    + Obtain updates from the craft, inspections, area team, etc. Ensure all documentation has been completed, signed and turned in.

    + Acknowledge time in WorkForce daily.

    + Attend the daily update meetings and communicate progress.

    + Verify materials for the next day’s work has been received.

    + Work with area team on any Emergency or High Priority work requests as necessary; if so, Foreman will coordinate emergency break-in work as defined by the maintenance workflow process.

    + Review the next week’s schedule to identify and request required rental equipment to meet scheduled start dates.

    + Monitor crafts CBT’s and classroom training to ensure attendance when scheduled.

    + Monitor PM’s to ensure jobs are scheduled and completed before due date.

    + Leads maintenance work group of multiple crafts. Responsible for the safe and effective execution of maintenance work in environmentally compliant manner in accordance with Corporate Refining maintenance standards. Assists in setting schedules. Monitor and appraise progress to ensure productivity, work quality and schedule adherence.

    + Ensures team understands work scope and performance expectations. Promote proactive reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) focus. Assist with troubleshooting. Ensure work orders are satisfactorily completed and properly closed out. Communicate daily activities related to manpower, accomplishments, and problem areas to management.

    + Ensures assigned craft personnel are adequately trained for their job assignment. Identify training needs and participates in development of training programs for craft skill pool.

    + Maintains visible and active field presence to promote safe working environment and ensure adherence to safe work practices, Participate in audits and near-miss/incident investigations. Follow-up on safety issues until closure. Active member of safety committee.

    + Coordinates with planning and scheduling to ensure appropriateness of job packages. Ensures materials used comply with current engineering standards. Identifies and resolves delays that would prevent schedule attainment.

    + Participates in maintenance cost control including challenging need for discretionary work. Participating member of Maintenance leadership team. Work collaboratively with other foremen, planning & scheduling and reliability teams to develop repair strategies and maintain reliability of refinery plant mechanical equipment in support of continuous operations.

    + Maintains current, accurate and complete records for assigned area.

    + Responsible to meet all that is applicable to the role in RSP-1400.

    + Understands this job is in production-centered support of a 24/7 operation and may require additional time and resources.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    + High School Diploma or GED is required. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)

    + Must have 4 years of relevant experience working in a refinery or other related industry or other related industry and/or a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering would be accepted as experience.

    + Must have experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO).

    + A valid Driver's License is required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Experience in working with SAP is desirable.

    + Experience in managing and leading employees in a union environment is preferred.

    + Prioritizing, planning, and scheduling maintenance work with budget and cost control experience a plus.
