Description
Lee County Fleet Services is looking for a reliable and motivated Technician I Fleet Mechanic to help keep our vehicles running smoothly. This is a great opportunity if you're looking to build your skills and work as part of a team. As a Technician I, you will perform hands-on maintenance, inspections, and repairs on county vehicles and equipment. You’ll be supported by experienced Fleet Mechanics and supervisors who will help you learn and grow in your role.
Duties and Responsibilities
What You’ll Do:
In this role, you will:
+ Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on County vehicles and equipment
+ Diagnose simple mechanical problems and help come up with solutions
+ Make basic repairs like changing tires, lights, and batteries, and doing general cleaning
+ Assist senior mechanics with more complex repairs and diagnostics
+ Pick up and deliver parts from vendors as needed
+ Keep work areas clean and safe, including performing basic cleaning tasks in the service area
+ Track your work and materials used, and keep accurate records of all jobs completed
+ Use tools and equipment to perform repairs, including hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic software
+ Other miscellaneous shop-related duties.
Education, Experience, Licensing
+ Education: High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
+ Experience: 1 year of experience working with automotive gasoline or diesel-powered equipment. This can include school training or hands-on work experience.
+ License: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
+ Tools & Equipment: Comfortable using tools, power equipment, and basic diagnostic software.
Preferred Skills (But Not Required):
+ Experience with diagnostic software and electronic repair manuals.
+ Basic knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and hydraulics.
+ Familiarity with shop safety and keeping a clean work environment.
