    Description

    We’re looking for a skilled Technician II to help ensure construction projects meet the standards outlined in the Lee County Land Development Code. This role involves working with contractors to inspect, document, and support the progress of various construction projects, from residential driveways to major roadways. You’ll play a key role in making sure everything runs smoothly, working closely with contractors, engineers, consultants, and the public.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Inspect and Document Construction: Review and monitor the progress of assigned projects, making sure they meet all code requirements. Provide regular updates to the construction manager.

    + Interpret Construction Plans: Read and understand construction plans, specs, and contract documents to ensure work aligns with expectations.

    + Coordination and Communication: Act as a liaison between contractors, engineers, consultants, testing labs, and other county departments to keep projects on track.

    + Right-of-Way Inspections: Conduct inspections for residential driveway permits, including stakeout and use of drainage maps for design.

    + Utility and Roadway Inspections: Perform inspections for various permits such as utilities and roadway work, including preliminary, final, and one-year warranty checks.

    + Pavement Management: Help with office tasks like data entry, and field tasks like rating road conditions and inspecting asphalt.

    + Respond to Public Inquiries: Address complaints and requests related to construction activities, ensuring a professional and helpful response.

    + File and Document Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all projects. Review pay requests and as-built drawings for accuracy and document job progress.

    + Sidewalk and Drainage Design Support: Assist in sidewalk and drainage project designs as needed.

     

    Education, Experience, Licensing

    Education and Experience:

    + High School diploma or GED, and

    + Two years of related experience in construction, inspections, or a similar field.

     

    An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in place of the stated requirements.

    Licenses and Certifications:

    + A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required.
