About this Job
The mission of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center is to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach treatment goals and to return to more integrated community living settings. Pinecrest Supports and Services Center specializes in the treatment of people with comorbid intellectual and developmental disabilities and complex medical, behavioral, and psychiatric support needs.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
No experience or training is required.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Enforce local and state laws and applicable agency policies through foot and mobile patrols on assigned shift. Respond to calls for police assistance and emergency calls on grounds.
+ Maintain traffic control using radar and issuing traffic citations in accordance with PSSC policy. Perform insurance and seatbelt checkpoints, initiate vehicle accident reports, prepare and review incident reports.
+ Conduct vehicle and home searches for facility contraband, weapons and stolen/missing property. Secure buildings on grounds, assisting in searches for individuals who are attempting to elope or have eloped from the facility.
+ Escort ambulances to on-grounds locations, and monitor traffic that is entering the grounds. Prevent and control disturbances or illegal activities, detain offenders for questioning or investigation. Assist direct care staff to provide support to individuals residing at PSSC and provide first aid and emergency services as necessary.
+ Work special detail assignments as directed including crowd control at dances, traffic and crowd control at parades. Serve as Resource Officer at the Special School District #1 on grounds and working in the gatehouse to monitor for and prevent unauthorized entry into the facility.
+ Operate and communicate to other officers via police radios to dispatch needed police services to respond to calls, operate police computers, monitor alarm systems on campus, and maintain necessary logs of radio and telephone activities.
+ Participate in incident investigations and assist with arrests. Responsible for transporting, escorting, and/or accompanying any employee on grounds, who is required to submit to an immediate drug test on or off grounds. Assist law enforcement and investigative personnel from other police jurisdictions. Appear as witness in court when required.

Appointment Type: This position may be filled byDetail to Special Duty, Probation, Promotion, Demotion, or Lateral Transfer.Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.
Career Progression: This position may be filled as aPOLICE OFFICER 1 or POLICE OFFICER 2 depending on the qualifications of the selected applicant.
Compensation: (Depends on Qualifications)
This position receives hazard duty pay of $2.00 per hour.
POLICE OFFICER 1 — $16.83hr. – $34.06hr.
POLICE OFFICER 2 — $18.01hr. - $36.44hr.
