Job Description
JOB PURPOSE: The Associate Project Manager provides support to the Business Area Managers across multiple projects concurrently from setup to close out. These projects may range from several weeks to several months to years in duration. Support multi-disciplined project team(s) of 5 - 15 people on projects ranging from capital improvement, new product development, significant cost reduction effort, systems (SAP) implementations/enhancements or other special initiatives. Learn and apply more advanced project management skills, tools, techniques, and principles. Communicate with/negotiate project schedules and needs with customer(s). Work with minimal supervision. Provide coaching, feedback and development to individual team members. Create and follow documented processes and procedures. $64,000-$72,000
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties include the following -- other duties may be assigned:
+ Working collaboratively with business partners, and technical resources.
+ The coordination, direction, organization and execution of project activities with their project manager(s) according to timeline.
+ Track project elements such as milestones, deadlines, schedules, resource utilization, budgets, risks, change of scope, and quality of deliverables
+ Effectively lead teams through planning and control processes
+ Recommend corrective actions to the schedule, resource requirements, and budget, when required
+ Maintenance of the project plan and tasks in the project system of record (Microsoft Project).
+ Creation and maintenance of project documents, plans and reports
+ Status report creation and distribution.
+ Identification of risks and escalation to technical management and/or business partners as appropriate.
+ Ability to apply basic project cost tracking and metrics
+ Ability to utilize project planning tools (network diagrams, Gantt charts, work breakdown structures, process flow analysis, etc...)
QUALIFICATIONS: The Associate Project Manager must be adept at using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio), and must be able to work independently. Additionally, this role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate information to various project and business team members. This could include writing business memos, business/project updates, making group presentations.
+ Individuals in this role typically have completed an associate degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
+ This person is highly motivated and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment that encourages contribution and out of the box thinking.
+ The Associate Project Manager should be internally driven to meet and exceed expectations and find personal satisfaction in improving business process efficiency.
+ Additionally, the Associate Project Manager is analytically minded and detail oriented, enjoys complex problem solving, and is highly accountable and quick to take ownership of tasks and responsibilities.
+ 0-2 years of similar experience
+ Language Skills
+ Must have working command of the English language
+ Must be able to read, write and interpret the English language
+ Must be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing (verbal instructions, written memos and instructions)
+ Computer Skills
+ CAPM or PMP certification desired or in process
+ Basic to advanced computer skills required
+ Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and Visio
+ Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
+ Complete all necessary training as required by assigned department and position
+ Participate in and follow all company initiatives
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
+ Must be able to stand, sit, stoop squat, walk
+ Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (when in manufacturing areas)
+ Mandatory wearing of certified safety glasses
+ The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear
+ All employees are required to apply ergonomic correctness to all job tasks
+ May be required depending on position:
+ Annual vision update in Medical Department
+ Involvement in the hearing conservation program
+ Involvement in the lead surveillance program
+ Wearing of safety certified shoes/boots
WORK ENVIRONMENT
+ Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures and industrial lighting
+ Work environment is similar to most manufacturing operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting.
