Position Summary
A preferred candidate has been identified for this position. Performance of tasks in an R&D laboratory environment may include: sample preparation, physical testing, and chemical testing. Responsible for performing various rubber compound preparation and physical tests and/or chemical analyses utilizing specialized equipment/instrumentation. This position requires knowledge of rubber compound preparation and/or physical and analytical tools and techniques. Technicians will maintain and improve safety, quality and productivity levels. Learn and consistently demonstrate proficiency in skill sets within and potentially outside the normal work area. Proactive identification and communication of safety or quality issues to management. Ability to complete tasks under minimal supervision.
The Technician in this position will work toward meeting or exceeding the needs of customers through laboratory level rubber processing and testing. The ideal candidate will be energetic, and team focused, while delivering high-quality results in a timely fashion in a challenging environment.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
+ Work professionally with other Teammates in a dynamic workplace atmosphere
+ Follow all safety and quality processes/policies/laws
+ Potentially stand most of the workday
+ Potentially lift items weighing up to 50 pounds
+ Use general hand tools/knives to prepare rubber specimens
+ Work with chemicals and in areas that may have nuisance fumes, dust, heat and noise.
+ Learn to safely and effectively operate a variety of testing and/or preparation equipment in a high-paced testing laboratory.
+ Grasp concepts presented within a reasonable timeframe
+ Set up, configure, install, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment/software.
+ Communicate effectively with internal customers (Engineers/Scientists)
+ Exhibit basic computer skills necessary for operating equipment (Microsoft Office Suite, web-based navigation, etc.)
+ Compile data, operating records, control records and reports of test results.
+ Assist in other areas where trained, with limited supervision
+ Demonstrate excellent time management skills and complete work while considering priorities and turnaround goals.
+ Some job duties may vary depending upon the specific work assignments with the lab
Minimum Required Qualifications:
+ High school diploma (or equivalent)
+ Basic computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, email and web-based navigation.
