    The Katherine Thomas High School Program, in Rockville, MD, serves students in grades 9-12 with language and learning challenges, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. KTHS has an opportunity for a temporary Special Education High School Teaching Assistant (TA) with one to one responsibilities. We address the individual needs of each student to facilitate success at home, school, and in the community. Work hours are 7:30 am to 3:15 pm M - F. EOE

     

    Hourly Rate of $19- $25/hour, DOE

    T eaching Assistant position responsibilities include:

    + Support the student with academics, regulation, and behavior in and out of the classroom

    + Implement and strictly follow the student’s Behavior Plan

    + Assist and monitor the student under the Special Education Teacher's supervision and direction

    + Create a supportive learning environment

    + Document student progress through written notes and narrative reports

    Required Experience for the Teaching Assistant:

    + MUST have a Bachelors Degree

    + Experience with students with learning disabilities, Autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairment preferred

    + Knowledge of education and behavior management methods, procedures, and regulation techniques helpful

    + Must be reliable, maintain a professional attitude, and be team oriented

    + Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
