    Job Description

    An employer is looking for an experienced Java Software Architect to join their team and sit on site in their office in Tampa, Florida. This role will define end-to-end architecture across services, data, and integrations; collaborate with product and engineering to translate business outcomes into technical roadmaps; and steward best practices in reliability, performance, and security.

    Responsibilities:

    Architecture Ownership: Design distributed systems, APIs, and data flows; produce reference architectures, sequence diagrams, and decision records (ADR).

     

    Technical Strategy: Set standards for cloud, containers, CI/CD, and observability; drive modernization and deprecation plans.

     

    Quality & Reliability: Establish non-functional requirements; lead capacity planning, performance profiling, and resilience (circuit breakers, retries, backpressure).

     

    Security by Design: Embed authN/authZ, secrets management, encryption, and secure SDLC into architecture reviews.

     

    Data Architecture: Define eventing, streaming, and analytics patterns; champion schema evolution and governance.

     

    Guidance & Mentorship: Provide technical leadership to senior engineers; conduct design reviews and coach on clean architecture.

     

    Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Security, and Ops to align roadmaps; communicate tradeoffs and risks to stakeholders.

     

    Documentation & Governance: Maintain architecture runway and standards.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    8–12 years in software engineering with 3+ in architecture across large-scale systems

     

    Technical Depth: Proficiency in one or more of Java, TypeScript/Node, Python; strong microservices and API design (REST/GraphQL/gRPC).

     

    Cloud & Platform: Hands-on with AWS /GCP, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation), and serverless patterns.

     

    Data & Integration: Experience with relational/NoSQL, caching, streaming (Kafka/Kinesis), ETL, and event-driven designs.

     

    Reliability & Observability: Knowledge of tracing, metrics, logging, SLOs, and incident response practices.

     

    Security: Familiar with OAuth/OIDC, mTLS, key management, secrets, and compliance implications.

     

    Soft Skills: Excellent communication; ability to simplify complexity, influence without authority, and document decisions clearly. Experience with domain-driven design

     

    Background in AI/ML integration patterns, feature stores, or inference services.

     

    Knowledge of performance tuning for high-throughput services and cost-aware architectures.
