    Machine Controls Specialist

    Job Description Summary:

    As part of the Maintenance and Facilities Team in Muskegon, the Machine Controls Specialist supports manufacturing asset and process performance improvement efforts based on shop-wide business priorities. Requires mastery of a body of machine control platforms, data collection infrastructure and project leadership to support a variety of CNC machining and automation applications.

    Job Description:

    This role supports availability, performance and continuous improvement of the Muskegon site manufacturing asset base.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    + Effectively analyze machine and process data to identify insights, opportunities and relationships that support continuous improvement efforts.

    + Identify and drive projects that improve and sustain machine performance.

    + Establish ownership and accountability for machine control platforms. Plan for obsolescence and manage revisions effectively.

    + Create/maintain documentation for controls systems.

    + e.g. Thoroughly commented code, lists of required components, schematics & standard work instructions.

    + Collaborate with broad range of cross functional teams to support improvement efforts and execute projects.

    + Provide support to promote skills development of technical staff.

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    + Associate's degree from an accredited university or college is preferred.

    + Equivalent certification and experience will be considered.

    + Minimum of 5 years of experience, working with machine controls in a manufacturing environment.

    + Experience with the programming languages / data types described in the IEC 61131-3 standard. Examples: Ladder Diagram, Structured Text, Sequential Function Chart.

    Experience with the Following is highly preferred:

    + Machine Motion Control Platforms (e.g. Delta Tau, Fanuc, Mitsubishi)

    + PLC & HMI Integration (e.g. Omron, Allen Bradley, Automation Direct)

    + AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical

    + Machine Data Collection Interfaces (MTConnect)

    + Agile Product Development Framework

    + SQL Programming for Data Management & Analysis

     

    _This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
