Equipment Strategy Lead - Electrical
- Meta (Menlo Park, CA)
-
Summary:
The need for the Equipment Strategy Lead role arises from the significant growth and complexity in Meta's data center building engineering, design, and construction. Over the past 1.5 years, the number of equipment submittals and SKUs has quadrupled, with over 1,000 SKUs and more than 300 in development. This expansion is driven by the increasing importance of owner furnished equipment (OFE) and is exacerbated by increasing quantity of manufactured owner furnished equipment (MOFE) as Meta's data center program grows and speed of deployment is critical. The role is essential to manage the Run-the-Business across the lifecycle of the DC equipment ecosystem ensuring alignment across teams, improving process efficiency, and managing the increased complexity and volume of equipment management in Meta's data center program.Key reasons for this role include:Scalability Issues: The previous operational model was siloed and manual, resulting in several challenges:- Misalignment of schedules and delays in final designs due to uncoordinated submittals and deliveries.- Information transition across engineering, sourcing, design and delivery teams, particularly with MOFE.- Tracking milestones and completion to ensure projects are on track.- Tracking submittals and outcomes across various projects and timeline.- Inconsistent use of tools, affecting the reliability of information.- Challenges in maintaining quality standards across vendors.- Inconsistent escalation paths, leading to delays in submittal deliveries.- Inconsistent document control, affecting contractual obligations with contractors and suppliers.
