Penn Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced professional to join our corporate leadership team as **Vice President of Enterprise Technology Architecture, Research and Strategy** to build the framework that positions our technology function for the next era of healthcare innovation. In this newly created leadership role reporting to the CTO, you will set the vision and strategy to drive the strategic alignment of technology architecture with clinical, academic and business objectives, establish the future state technology vision and roadmap, and leading research into emerging technologies. The successful leader will embrace change, challenge us and collaborate with internal and external partners, driving initiatives and achieving outcomes with lasting and meaningful impact.
The Vice President will also create the team and capabilities needed to support and carry out departmental objectives, including attracting, developing and retaining talent. You will be accountable for fostering a positive organizational culture in daily business, decision-making and performance management.
**Location** : The VP role is primarily remote, with the expectation that the individual resides in the greater Philadelphia area to attend bi-weekly onsite meetings.
**Responsibilities** :
Leadership & Strategy:
+ Lead the Enterprise Architecture Group, setting the vision, strategy, and goals to support business transformation through technology.
+ Establish and govern the enterprise architecture framework to ensure consistency, scalability, and security across the organization’s clinical, research, and academic environments.
+ Collaborate with senior leadership to align technology solutions with both business and healthcare objectives, promoting innovation in clinical care, education, and research.
Governance & Best Practice:
+ Define and enforce architectural standards, processes, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across the enterprise.
+ Ensure the architecture group has a strong governance model for technology decisions, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
Emerging Technology Research:
+ Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, trends, and innovations relevant to academic medical centers that could enhance business operations and competitiveness.
+ Develop actionable insights and provide strategic guidance on how new technologies could be integrated into the organization’s architecture to enhance patient care, research, and education.
+ Lead a research function to evaluate proof of concepts (PoCs) and participate in pilots to assess the potential value of emerging technologies in healthcare settings.
Talent & Team Development:
+ Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of architects and technology researchers.
+ Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation, ensuring the team remains at the cutting edge of technology and industry trends.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, is required.
+ 10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, technology research, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably within an academic medical center or healthcare setting, is required.
+ Expertise in evaluating and integrating emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, cloud-native solutions, and healthcare-specific solutions like EHR, medical imaging, and telemedicine, is required.
+ Master's Degree is preferred.
