Job Overview:
Pediatric Orthopedic Associates is seeking a licensed Athletic Trainer to assist in executing established program policies and procedures and assumes responsibility for maintaining program standards. The Athletic Trainer will provide evaluation and testing, support for non-invasive procedures and, clinical support for patient management within the physician practice and collegiate setting. The AT is an extension of the supervising physician and is to be compliant with the supervising physicians' standing orders implementing medical and risk management of all persons covered within these orders, while consulting physicians about medical management of each athlete or patient as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
+ Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training
+ CAATE Approved program and completion of the NATABOC certification
+ Maintain the NATABOC-required 50 CEUs per certification period - every two years
Preferred:
+ Minimum of 2 years Athletic Trainer experience
+ Certified NSCA OR ACSM
+ Epic experience
+ Collegiate experience
+ Bilingual Spanish speaking
Certifications and Licenses Required:
+ DOE clearance
+ National Athletic Trainer Association
+ Licensed in the State of New Jersey as an Athletic Trainer
+ NATA Board Certified, New Jersey Department of Education
Essential Functions:
+ Obtains needed equipment for exam room procedures
+ Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct
+ Takes patient history, and records the information in the patient's chart
+ Assists physician with orders for pre-operative tests, CT scans, and MRIs
+ Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements
+ Prepares therapeutic injections and assists with minor procedures as needed
+ Works with the Practice Manager to ensure safe and professional patient care
+ Reviews lab results, x-rays, and MRI and CT results prior to entering patient exam room
+ Works collaboratively with Practice Manager and Vice President of Ambulatory Service to ensure the Medical Center’s Mission, Values Statements are amplified each day in the outpatient care area
+ Reviews pre-operative instructions and explains the surgical process to patients who are about to have surgery
+ Confers with physicians about new patient findings and potential diagnosis and treatment before they see each patient
+ Performs patient education duties; shows surgical videos, hands out brochures, and directs patients to specific Internet sites for more information
+ Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations
+ Follows patients discharged from the Emergency Room and acts as a patient navigator for that patient population ensuring that proper follow-up is maintained
+ Provides education sessions to registered medical assistants to continue to improve: patient experience, triage work flow, customer service, and other areas identified
+ Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Assesses gaps in policies and procedures and create necessary policies and procedures to fulfill these gaps
+ Provides one-on-one clinic care as needed, under the supervision of a physician, and in accordance with the quality standards of the department including taking a history, performing an initial evaluation, proxy orders, fitting of braces and splints per protocols, providing therapy per protocols and assisting with outpatient procedures such as injections. Individuals must have the knowledge base to be able to evaluate and report findings to the physician.
