Job Summary:
**Integrated Components Division (ICD)** designs and manufactures embedded components that enhance machine performance, safety, and quality. Through deep system-level integration, ICD delivers customer value and competitive advantage. The division partners closely with product groups and business units to manage current designs (e.g., seals, hoses, filters, hardware) and drive innovation aligned with sustainability, resiliency, and global availability goals.
ICD supports long-term service growth by designing components with aftermarket needs in mind, ensuring reliable performance worldwide. The engineering department includes three specialized groups:
+ **Material Testing Group (MTG):** Develops and manages rubber formulations.
+ **Rubber Component Group (RCG):** Designs, tests, and validates rubber components.
+ **Track Seal Group:** Focuses on track seal designs to meet customer expectations.
Each group operates dedicated labs to validate materials and components, supporting initiatives like Assurance of Supply, Quality Improvement, Warranty Reduction, CPI, and NPI. Through cross-functional collaboration and rigorous testing, ICD ensures all components meet internal standards and customer expectations—contributing to product lifecycle success and future innovation.
What You Will Do:
+ Design, develop, and maintain rubber component solutions and associate test methods to meet product requirements.
+ Create and maintain test fixtures, manage local test benches, and interpret test results, including spare parts upkeep.
+ Communicate effectively with internal teams and customers regarding rubber component performance and maintenance needs.
+ Inspect field-returned rubber components and assist in root cause analysis for failures.
+ Validate component performance through physical testing, simulation support, and on-machine measurement definition.
+ Support NPI, CPI, BIQ, and Assurance of Supply projects by executing performance tests and reporting results.
+ Collaborate with process partners and manufacturing facilities to improve material quality and component reliability.
+ Ensure timely completion of assigned projects and deliverables in alignment with ICD goals.
Education requirement:
+ Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or demonstrate equivalent knowledge through professional expertise.

Technical Excellence:
+ Leverage deep technical knowledge in materials, mechanics, and manufacturing processes to solve high-impact design challenges.
+ Collaborates with cross-functional SMEs and leverages APQP for design validation and issue resolution, ensuring alignment with Caterpillar’s engineering standards.
+ Assume accountability for personal technical performance and holds others responsible for theirs.
Product Design and Development:
+ Support complex, full-lifecycle product development initiatives across multiple platforms, from concept through production.
+ Drive cross-functional collaboration with global teams to ensure robust design validation and seamless product launches.
+ Ensure product quality through integration of Six Sigma methodologies and Design Verification Plans (DVP&R).
Product Design - MFG:
+ Knowledge collaborating with suppliers to optimize designs for ease of manufacturability focusing on Team Feasibility Commitments.
+ Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, production, and quality assurance, to align design objectives with manufacturing capabilities using APQP methodology.
+ Provides strategic input on complex design challenges by reviewing Tolerance Stack-up Analysis.
Effective Communication:
+ Adapt documents and presentations for the intended audience using structured reporting tools and dashboards in Power BI and SharePoint.
+ Demonstrate both empathy and assertiveness when communicating a need or defending a position
+ Communicate well downward, upward, and outward.
+ Employ appropriate methods of persuasion when soliciting agreement.
Analytical Thinking:
+ Ability to interpret engineering data, test results, and performance metrics.
+ Knowledge conducting root cause analysis and troubleshooting design issues.
+ Familiarity with statistical tools and methods (e.g., Six Sigma, FMEA).
+ Knowledge in evaluating design trade-offs and making data-driven decisions.
+ Ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.
Managing Multiple Priorities:
+ Proven experience handling multiple design projects or components simultaneously.
+ Strong organizational skills and familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira).
+ Ability to prioritize tasks based on deadlines, impact, and resource availability.
+ Knowledge collaborating across cross-functional teams (e.g., manufacturing, quality, supply chain).
+ Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements and timelines.
Computer-Aided Design & Engineering:
+ Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Creo, CATIA, SolidWorks) for 3D modeling and drafting.
+ Knowledge of CAE tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) for simulation and analysis.
+ Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and engineering standards.
+ Ability to create and revise detailed engineering drawings and BOMs.
+ Knowledge integrating CAD models into PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill).
The Top Candidates will also have:
+ Experience with the following:
+ Part design control – Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process, engineering drawing standards, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
+ New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) projects
+ Component or materials testing in lab and/or field
+ Proficient in data acquisition systems, MTS/Instron test machines and controllers
Additional Information:
This position requires the candidate to **work onsite five days a week at the Mossville, IL office.**
Domestic relocation assistance is NOT available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

Summary Pay Range:
$95,640.00 - $143,520.00
