    About E&ES:

    Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

    Job Summary:

    Caterpillar Electrification + Energy Solutions Division currently has an opening for Senior Engineer Design- Battery Module Electrical System Integration located in Mossville, IL. This position will have responsibility for design development, integration and validation of battery module electrical systems for electrification programs through New Technology Introduction, New Product Introduction & Small-batch development phases from concept through production.

    What you will** **do** **:

    This position will be accountable for translating electrical system requirements from L4 teams into appropriate battery module electrical system designs thru electrical component and subsystem integration. It will also have accountability for electrical system auditing, troubleshooting, validation, and issue resolution to ensure alignment to safety and regulatory standards and reliability expectations.

    This includes:

    + Develop design parameters, performance characteristics, and technical specifications of products and components that satisfy customer needs and advance safety, quality, velocity and cost.

    + Participating in supplier selection and capabilities assessment.

    + Monitoring, exploring, and testing new technologies, materials, and components to understand product or process improvement opportunities.

    + Constructing and fabricating prototype equipment; overseeing materials selection, process optimization and process yield, as well as reliability testing and failure analysis.

    + Lead the development of battery module electrical systems.

    + Provide direction, concepting, and consulting for new application investigations and guidance for the overall architecture and design of batteries within New Technology Introduction (NTI) and New Product Introduction (NPI).

    + Perform electrical analysis work, identifies design problems, and resolves problems.

    + Lead Battery module design for program and maintain commitments for key program deliverables.

    + Collaborate with internal and external suppliers with the APQP process.

    + Build relationships and leverage business unit and corporate battery system experts.

    + Lead and document high voltage electrical system integration best practices and design guides.

    What you will have:

    + **Degree Requirement:** Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

    + **Analytical Thinking:** Extensive experience and knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

    + **Effective Communications:** Extensive experience and understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

    + **Managing Multiple Priorities:** Extensive experience and knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

    + **Technical Excellence:** Extensive experience and knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

    + **Computer-Aided Design & Engineering:** Extensive experience and knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts.

    + **Product Design - MFG:** Extensive experience and knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.

    + **Product Design and Development:** Extensive experience and knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

    Top Candidates will also have** **:

    + Prior experience with E+ES Battery module or pack design.

    + Prior experience with CAT Design and release process for electrical part and systems

    + Prior experience in testing of Electricalcomponent and systems.

    + Experience in product development, validation or product support of prime products and/or mechanical systems.

    + Prior 6 Sigma, Lean, and/or project management experience

    + Experience leading complex technical projects across multiple groups or sections

    • **Additional Information:**

    + This position is located in Mossville, IL and does offer domestic relocation

    + This position may require 10% travel for hands-on work at build and test facilities

    Summary Pay Range:

    $110,520.00 - $165,840.00

     

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
