An exciting career opportunity awaits within the Rigid Frame Trucks Performance and Applications team. As a performance and controls engineer you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our machines deliver the performance, power and reliability our customers expect.
This position will primarily be responsible for supporting competitive performance studies at customer sites, assisting in the resolution of critical customer issues and providing engineering support to commercial teams. The position will also play an active role in Large Mining Truck (LMT) New Product Integration (NPI) programs starting from requirements all the way through field follow validation.
What You Will Do:
+ Support the execution of performance/production studies at customer sites and provide reports to end customers.
+ Perform remote monitoring/analysis of machine performance via automated big data analyses and dashboards.
+ Develop software control strategies to improve machine performance, life and reliability
+ Support LMT commercial teams with customer data inquiries and machine simulation analyses.
+ Perform machine simulations to assess machine performance in various applications.
+ Ensure that technical requirements are satisfied by executing Software in the Loop (SIL) test programs that yield pass/fail results.
+ Perform Analysis to assist in the resolution of machine control software issues.
• **Education Requirement:** Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer or Software Engineering.
What Skills You Will Have:
**Technical Excellence:** Large Mining Truck / Off Highway Trucks experience. Prior machine or system level performance, controls, and simulation experience.
**Effective Communications:** Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
**Problem Solving:** Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
**Project Management:** Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
+ Knowledge of SQL, Python, or similar programming languages
+ Experience with Snowflake, Tableau and machine learning algorithms are highly desirable.
+ Experience with cloud computing, parallelization and scaling digital analyses
+ Prior engine/power train/machine testing experience
+ Mining application experience
+ Software Development or System Integration experience
Additional Information:
The primary work location for this role is Tucson, AZ, with a requirement to work on-site full-time at a Caterpillar facility.
This position may require 25 % global travel.
Domestic relocation assistance is available.

Summary Pay Range:
$79,800.00 - $119,760.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
