**What you’ll do:** You’ll directly supervise designated employees. Performs moderately complex administrative work involving the coordination of transports for both incoming and outgoing Inmates in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.
Essential Functions:
1. Plan and coordinate with Parole and Probation Divisions, County Jails and Correctional Institutions to arrange for the transport of Inmates to and from the unit.
2. Gather all transport paperwork for incoming and outgoing Inmates for each different Inmate type.
3. Coordinate the routes for which counties the transportation officers will be going to each day.
4. Field calls from transport officers as needed to ensure proper pick up and drop off of Inmates as scheduled.
5. Check ISF Parole Inmates daily to see if an Inmate has requested to be picked up by a family member: make necessary arrangements over the phone with the Inmate’s family.
6. Monitor population count for each Inmate program in efforts to maintain maximum capacity levels.
7. Distribute population updates regularly to TDCJ contract monitor and other designated TDCJ officials.
8. Promote the development of positive social skills by modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
9. Maintain accountability of staff, Inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
+ Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
+ Two (2) years full-time, wage earning criminal justice experience as well as two (2) years of full-time, wage earning clerical or administrative experience (may be concurrent). Thirty semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) may be substituted for each year of clerical experience on a year for year basis for a maximum substitution of two (2) years. Proficiency with spreadsheets and computer data entry is necessary.
+ Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Post-Hire Requirements:
Must complete Correctional Awareness Training (CAT) prior to Inmate contact. Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by TDCJ.
