Job Summary:
The EHS Coordinator supports and enhances the site’s **environmental and safety programs** , with a focus on **environmental compliance, hazardous materials oversight, and ISO 9001 program management** .
Our Kansas City location spans a **155-acre industrial campus** supporting **more than 1,200 employees** across multiple shops, and operational areas. This is a high-activity environment with constant movement, heavy equipment, and ongoing environmental and safety needs. The EHS Coordinator must be comfortable working in a fast-paced setting, engaging directly with teams across the property, and adapting quickly as priorities shift. This role is hands-on and dynamic **not a position with much sitting still** and requires an individual who thrives in an active, busy, and operationally complex workplace.
Experience:
+ Prior EHS or environmental compliance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.
+ Experience working in Mapistry
+ Boots on the ground safety experience
Key Responsibilities:
Environmental Compliance (Primary Focus)
+ Serve as the site’s ISO 9001 Environmental Management Representative, ensuring the environmental management system is maintained and continuously improved.
+ Manage environmental permits, reporting, inspections, and documentation for all locations (air, waste, stormwater, SPCC, chemical inventory, etc.).
+ Oversee proper handling, storage, labeling, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, coordinating directly with vendors.
+ Conduct routine environmental audits and ensure the site meets all federal, state, and local environmental requirements.
+ Lead environmental initiatives, sustainability efforts, pollution-prevention activities, and corrective actions.
+ Manage our SDS/ MSDS/GHS program
EHS Safety Responsibilities (When Not Performing Environmental Tasking)
+ Conduct safety inspections, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and support the Joint EHS Committee.
+ Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable provincial/state standards.
+ Assist with risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action tracking.
+ Provide EHS input on new processes, equipment, and operational changes.
Training & Emergency Response
+ Develop, update, and deliver required EHS training for all employees, including onboarding.
+ Coordinate emergency response plans, fire drills, spill response, and evacuation procedures.
Recordkeeping & Reporting
+ Maintain all required EHS records, logs, documentation, and regulatory reports.
+ Ensure environmental and safety recordkeeping systems meet company and regulatory requirements.
+ Experience in managing and update management system – Velocity EHS
Continuous Improvement
+ Analyze EHS trends and metrics to identify risk reduction opportunities.
+ Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a proactive safety culture.
Required Qualifications:
+ **Education:** Degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
+ **Technical Knowledge:**
+ Strong understanding of **environmental regulations** and **ISO 9001**
+ Working knowledge of OSHA standards and regulatory compliance expectations.
+ **Skills:**
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to engage employees at all levels.
+ Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
+ Able to travel to other locations around the US& Canada
