    Caregivers in Lutheran Hospital's Emergency Department provide care to all patient populations, ranging from infants to geriatrics, and ensure that each patient's visit is as comfortable and stress-free as possible. As a Paramedic, you will provide immediate medical treatment to patients presenting various critical injuries, illnesses and concerns. In this role, fast thinking and processing are essential, as every second counts in an emergency. Your tireless efforts help improve outcomes and make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, their families and your fellow caregivers.

     

    This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working shifts varying between 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

     

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Maintain equipment.

    + Assess nature and extent of illness/injury and patient's history from available sources.

    + Determine appropriate independent or collaborative response.

    + Administer appropriate emergency medical care, including life support procedures, decontamination protocols, obtaining EKG readings and vital statistics monitoring.

    + Perform fluid/drug administration as needed.

    + Communicate with medical personnel at hospital, report/record observations and follow directives until report and hand-off at hospital if on the Transport Team.

    + Navigate Ambulance to scene of accident in response to emergency call if on the Transport Team.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic Training Program

    + Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio

    + Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

    + Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic Training Program

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Certification

    + One year of experience as an EMT-P

    Physical Requirements:

    + Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

    + Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    + Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

     

    Pay Range

     

    Minimum hourly: $26.65

     

    Maximum hourly: $26.65

     

    The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
