    Summary:

    Meta Reality Labs is seeking a Software Engineer, Application to join our Ophthalmic Precision Optics (OPO) team, driving algorithmic innovation and software architecture evolution for precision optical 3D printing systems. You will work directly with our Printer Application Engineers to integrate cutting-edge algorithms into our platform while improving our extensive codebase for enhanced modularity and cross-generation hardware support.As part of our mission to enable mass customization of ophthalmic lenses for AR/VR glasses, you will be instrumental in developing and optimizing algorithms that power our optical additive manufacturing technology. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex algorithmic challenges while collaborating cross-functionally with materials, process, and hardware engineers across our global facilities.

    Required Skills:

    Software Engineer, Application Responsibilities:

    1. Collaborate with the process team to design, develop, and optimize slicing and compensation algorithms for precision optical 3D printing, integrating them into the printer platform

    2. Design hardware-agnostic software interfaces and establish clean separation between algorithmic components and hardware control systems

    3. Architect modular, extensible solutions that support future printer generations and maintainability

    4. Partner with cross-functional teams (materials, process, hardware engineers) across global facilities

    5. Collaborate with external hardware partners Original Design Manufacturers/Original Equipment Manufacturers (ODMs/OEMs) on specifications and integration requirements

    6. Build and maintain production-grade manufacturing systems with high reliability and fault tolerance

    Minimum Qualifications:

    7. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience

    8. 5+ years of experience as a full stack software developer

    9. In-depth experience of C# and .NET frameworks, and large-scale application development

    10. Mandatory experience building and deploying production systems, ideally for manufacturing or similar high-reliability environments

    11. Application architecture experience including modular design patterns, scalability considerations, and maintainable code practices

    12. Proven experience in cross-functional collaboration and requirements management skills

    13. Experience working with complex algorithms and computational optimization

    Preferred Qualifications:

    14. Knowledge of 3D printing technologies Stereolithography (SLA), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Digital Light Processing(DLP) and additive manufacturing processes

    15. Experience with optical engineering principles or precision manufacturing systems

    16. Experience designing systems to support international data regulations and compliance requirements

    17. Experience with corporate system integrations and complex stakeholder management across technical organizations

    18. Background in manufacturing software, industrial automation, or similar production environments

    19. Experience with metrology systems, sensor integration, and real-time data processing

    20. Knowledge of computer vision and image processing algorithms

    21. GPU programming experience with Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) for high-performance computing and algorithm acceleration

    22. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and modern software development practices

    Public Compensation:

    $85.10/hour to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
