CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Business and Liberal Arts (BALA) program at Queens College is seeking an Administrative Specialist. Reporting directly to the BALA Program Director, the specialist will support the director with the implementation of programs and initiatives that enhance the strategic plan of the interdisciplinary program.
Along with the CUNY Title overview, job duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
• Support the Director with operational and administrative duties related to the day-to-day operations of the department and serve as a resource to faculty, staff, and students on department/program updates, policy and procedures.
• Conduct initial screening of student applicants to the program and assist students with course registration, schedule planning and other enrollment/registration concerns.
• Work closely with the faculty director to track and evaluate student progress, and compile and analyze reports/queries used for recruiting, graduation and tracking of student grades.
• Coordinate the assessment of degree requirements for graduation.
• Schedule, manage, verify, and update course listings in Coursedog, CUNYfirst, and update the ePAFs for the program.
• Collaborate with Human Resources on the onboarding and processing of new full-time and part-time faculty and staff and coordinate faculty and staff on procedural and program updates.
• Manage budget reconciliations, allocations, and distribution.
• Represent BALA at recruitment activities such as Open Houses, Major/Minor Fairs and orientations, and oversee the organization and execution of BALA events.
• Liaise with other academic departments to enhance program offerings and visibility for student success.
• Supervise support staff
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficiency in using cloud-based systems and modules, including CUNYfirst, DegreeWorks, Navigate, Coursedog, and Reporting Tools
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Access, Excel, and Word, and experience with database management systems
• Experience in a higher education setting working with a diverse, non-traditional student population
• Experience handling budgets and managing curricula in an office setting
• Four years of experience working with students in an academic department
• Four years of experience in the planning, marketing, promoting, and recruiting for large scale events
• Experience in student support and recruitment
• Experienced team player with demonstrated interpersonal skills
• Keen eye for detail
COMPENSATION
Salary commensurate with education and experience. Range: $79,188 - $86,471
