Position Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Engineering Lab Manager who will be responsible for leading the Engineering Labs and their staff within the Stratoflex Products Division.
Essential Functions
• Guide the technical work of a team to achieve project milestones. In addition, they will have regular and frequent internal interface to present test status in addition to being the primary contact with engineers/customer/suppliers for testing requiring coordination.
• Manage the testing of aerospace hose, tubes, fittings, quick disconnects, swivels, etc.
• Specify any new equipment or capabilities needed to conduct laboratory experimentation.
• Develop test objectives by reviewing technical test proposals and plans and conferring with management and related teams. Ensures testing meets schedule commitments, cost (non‐recurring and recurring) results, and technical expectations through effective leadership.
• Create plans and milestones by studying product or quality test needs and customer technical program requirements (including performance and data requirements), completing technical studies; and preparing cost estimates Determines testing responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements and assigning staffing and resources.
• Maintain frequent formal and informal customer interface to present test status; determines feasibility of changing customer requirements and may propose and/or negotiate changes in schedules or methodology in coordination with program management. Gains customer confidence in overall support of customer programs.
• Act as point of contact on technical and project-related matters. Identifies mentoring and development needs; serves as a mentor for other employees. May serve as a functional specialist.
Qualifications
• Bachelor degree (required) in Engineering (BSME preferred); Master degree or MBA preferred.
• 7-9 years of related engineering experience.
• Have thorough in-depth knowledge of engineering domain principles, concepts, product standards, and techniques, industry practices, regulations, and policies and well as the ability to apply broad knowledge of other related engineering or scientific field to area of expertise.
• Be proficient in hydraulic and pneumatic pressure systems, process control, machine controls and data monitoring.
• Have the ability to effectively communicate and present status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision – as well as the ability to respond to significant inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or marketing/sales teams.
• Possess effective project management and organizational skills and be able to facilitate project team interactions and develop project team member capabilities.
• Demonstrate the ability to apply and integrate knowledge of other related engineering areas or experts to own area of expertise.
• Be proficient with software and specialized data analysis, design, and project management tools following established project/program management protocol.
• Have the ability to establish and track performance to goals and objectives to complete complex or major projects and provide direction to the team at project milestones.
