Responsibilities
The PM&R Therapy Clinical Education Specialist (TCES) works collaboratively with the therapy and department leadership to plan educational opportunities which support the departmental strategic goals and objectives. This position collaborates with the Center Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCCE), Managers, Supervisors, and Clinical Lead therapists to design and implement departmental competencies. In addition the TCES partners with the CCCE, Managers, Supervisors, and the Clinical Education Coordinators (CEC) to mentor and establish educational activities for therapy personnel. This includes, but is not limited to, annual competency programs, ongoing staff mentoring, continuing therapy education activities, and professional development within a collaborative practice framework. The TCES also collaborates with other educators across the Mayo Clinic Enterprise to support a collaborative educational process that includes standardization and ongoing improvement. The TCES works with Administrative Assistant support to track educational and competency activities of employees. The Clinical Education Specialist functions in the role of educator, mentor, facilitator, change agent, consultant, and leader.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
+ Master's degree or doctoral degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or a healthcare/education-related field required
+ Licensed as a Physical or Occupational Therapist in the state of Minnesota, or ability to obtain licensure within three months
+ Minimum of three years of clinical experience as a therapist within the past ten years
+ Active membership, including leadership experience, in a professional organization (e.g., AOTA, APTA)
+ Experience in educational programming with demonstrated teaching skills
+ Demonstrated knowledge of relevant educational content and effective methods for adult learning
+ Organizational Skills: Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain structure, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
+ Communication: Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with individuals at all levels of the organization.
+ Interpersonal Effectiveness: Builds and maintains positive, respectful, and productive relationships with a wide range of individuals.
+ Leadership and Initiative: Takes responsibility for outcomes, exercises sound judgment, and demonstrates problem-solving and self-direction.
+ Collaboration: Works cooperatively with colleagues and teams to achieve shared objectives and foster a supportive work environment.
+ Decision-Making: Gathers, analyzes, and prioritizes information to make well-informed and effective decisions.
+ Adaptability: Adjusts effectively to changing priorities, environments, and unexpected challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Educational focus in master or doctoral degree program and/or certification in teaching adult learners preferred
