Job Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, administration & maintenance of West Pharma’s SQL Server database systems. The candidate should be a subject matter expertise in performance tuning, troubleshooting & pro-active maintenance while ensuring system integrity and maximum availability of the underlying database. Working in a Global environment, the candidate should have a hands-on approach capable of working across teams and time zones.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Manage/Administer West Pharma's portfolio of SQL Server databases globally.
+ Expertise in all areas of database administration like Installation, Configuration, Client/Server Connectivity, Backup & Recovery etc.
+ Performing scheduled maintenance & patch deployment to ensure the environment is updated adequately.
+ Optimization of databases based on growth and capacity management.
+ Knowledge & experience in setting up High Availability (HA), SQL AON & Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
+ Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
+ Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
+ Experience in automated monitoring of underlying database as part of daily maintenance tasks.
+ Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
+ Experience in Data Migration/Upgrade across different MS SQL server versions.
+ Other duties as assigned
Additional Responsibilities
Education
+ Bachelor’s/Post-Graduate degree or equivalent experience.
Work Experience
+ Minimum 3 years 3-5 years of experience in related fields required
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Subject matter expertise in SQL Server database (2012,2014,2016,2017, 2019, 2022).
+ Experience with SQL Server DB on Windows (On-premise & Azure).
+ Experience in Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, SQL Profiler, SQL Server Configuration Manager, Service Broker, SQL Server audit, Perfmon, SQL Diagnostic Manager etc.
+ Experience in setting up backups & restore/recovery mechanisms.
+ Experience in implementation of SQL Server Integration Services SSIS, SQL Server Reporting Services SSRS etc.
+ Experience in installation, configuration, and administration of SQL workloads on Azure
+ Experience in automation & development using PL/SQL, Shell, SQL builder, Perl, Windows DOS etc
+ Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
+ Able to comply with the company’s safety policy at all times
+ Able to comply with the company’s quality policy at all times
+ Strong analytical & problem-solving ability along with excellent communication skills.
+ Flexibility to work outside of working hours and on-call support.
Physical and Travel Requirements
+ 15% travel, including global travel
+ Occasional on-call work required
+ Prefer 12pm – 9pm India time. Willingness to work outside of these hours as needed.
+ Ability to work in a global and virtual environment and to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
