    Job Description

    As a Principal AME Equipment Engineer specializing in Powertrain, you will define and implement long-term strategies for electric vehicle (EV) Powertrain manufacturing lines. Your role involves managing the complete equipment lifecycle, from concept to continuous improvement, while ensuring seamless integration of automation and heavy material handling.

    Responsibilities

    + Lead the definition and implementation of long-term process and equipment strategies for EV Powertrain manufacturing lines, including precision CNC machining and motor magnet assembly.

    + Oversee the entire equipment lifecycle from concept definition to continuous improvement, including vendor selection and production ramp-up.

    + Manage the planning, layout, and installation of new Powertrain assembly lines, ensuring the integration of utilities and automation cells.

    + Serve as the technical subject matter expert for Powertrain equipment, with a focus on high-precision automation and quality inspection systems.

    + Guide Powertrain Product Engineering teams to optimize component designs for automated assembly, enhancing process capability.

    + Collaborate with Tier 1 equipment suppliers to negotiate specifications and ensure quality and performance targets are met.

    + Drive process optimization and validation through statistical analysis and rigorous validation techniques.

    + Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and integration of new equipment, focusing on safety and quality standards.

    Essential Skills

    + At least 15 years of experience in advanced manufacturing engineering, with 8 years in high-precision Electric Drive Unit assembly or related fields.

    + Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.

    + Expertise in high-speed rotor/stator assembly, precision balancing, and component pressing.

    + Strong familiarity with precision liquid dispensing and automated leak/pressure testing.

    + Expert knowledge of Electric Motor EOL dynamometer testing.

    + Proven experience in bringing highly automated manufacturing equipment online.

    + Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks or CATIA.

    + Ability to perform rigorous statistical analysis and implement corrective actions.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience in a startup environment and rapidly scaling production.

    + Practice of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies, with a preference for Black Belt certification.

    + Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification.

    + Experience with simulation software like Delmia is a plus.

    + Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

    Work Environment

    The role involves working in a dynamic environment with a focus on high-precision equipment and automated processes. Expect to collaborate with various engineering teams and manage large-scale equipment projects, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Flexibility for domestic and international travel is required.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Permanent position based out of Garden Grove, CA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $170000.00 - $190000.00/yr.
