Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Media Preparation Lab Technician to join our Screening and Bioprocess (S&B) team. In this role, you will support laboratory operations by preparing, dispensing, and conducting quality control of sterile media. You will collaborate closely with internal lab personnel and external stakeholders to coordinate, schedule, and execute media preparation and delivery.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare sterile media using autoclaves, mediaclaves, Sterilize in Place (SIP) reactors, and other sterilization technologies.
+ Weigh, sterilize, and dispense media into various containers such as plates, flasks, and bottles using automated liquid handlers and peristaltic pumps, following SOPs and job aids.
+ Apply sterile and aseptic handling techniques throughout all processes.
+ Perform quality checks on prepared media, including streaking plates, measuring pH, and inspecting for contamination via microscopy.
+ Monitor inventory levels and order necessary chemicals and consumables.
+ Identify, flag, and assist in troubleshooting process deviations and contamination events.
+ Participate in projects aimed at enhancing laboratory operations and efficiency, including tracking lab metrics, data capture and visualization, and meeting operational efficiency goals.
Essential Skills
+ B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, or related field (preferably life sciences, agriculture, plant science, etc.).
+ 6+ months of experience working in a laboratory setting (industry or academia).
+ Experience with aseptic techniques.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Any experience with fermentation is a bonus.
+ Proficiency in tools used within the work process such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint is helpful.
Work Environment
The candidate will work a 1st shift from 7am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. Consultants will receive holiday pay.

This is a Contract position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
