Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, programming, and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems and integrating various manufacturing technologies. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the growth of Industry 4.0 initiatives within a new department.
Responsibilities
+ Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems using platforms such as Allen-Bradley and Siemens.
+ Create and maintain electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
+ Develop modular, scalable code for control systems.
+ Implement data bridges between shop floor equipment, MES, and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, and Plex.
+ Standardize data structures and communication protocols like OPC UA, MQTT, and REST APIs.
+ Program and commission industrial robots, including Fanuc, ABB, and Motoman.
+ Integrate robotics with safety, vision, and control systems.
+ Deploy IoT devices for asset monitoring and predictive maintenance.
+ Implement edge computing solutions and collaborate with IT/OT for secure industrial networks.
+ Champion digital twins, virtual commissioning, machine learning, and data lake initiatives.
+ Implement smart sensors and intelligent devices while ensuring compliance with industrial cybersecurity standards.
+ Provide technical support for SigmaNEST and SimTrans software, including troubleshooting and user training.
+ Write specification sheets, RFQs, and technical documentation.
+ Develop control standards and glossary documentation.
+ Manage controls projects from design to validation and collaborate with cross-functional teams for integration.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
+ Minimum of 5 years experience in controls/systems engineering and automation in a manufacturing environment.
+ Proficiency in PLC/HMI programming with platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, and Beckhoff.
+ Experience in MES/ERP integration and industrial protocols like Ethernet/IP and OPC-UA.
+ Robotics programming and machine installation and troubleshooting.
+ Familiarity with IIoT platforms, cybersecurity, and edge computing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Familiarity with digital twins, SCADA systems, and cloud integration with AWS or Azure IoT.
+ Ability to program from scratch.
+ Willingness to travel up to 30% a year.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chattanooga, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.29 - $62.50/hr.
