Job Title: Quality EngineerJob Description
The Engineer will provide expertise and execute tasks on the control of special processes performed in the External Supply Chain. The products are involved with a wide range of materials applications, including heat treatment, chemical processes, non-conventional machining, welding, and advanced coating processes.
Responsibilities
+ Ensure suppliers adhere to defined standards and specifications for special processes, including regulatory and customer requirements.
+ Assess supplier capabilities, review process documentation, and support qualification and approval activities.
+ Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and quality enhancement within the supply base.
+ Evaluate and mitigate risks associated with outsourced special processes, including supplier audits and corrective actions.
+ Ensure product integrity for components is delivered through alignment of Method of Manufacture with Design Intent by authorizing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), authorizing Data Cards, and assessing and approving Fixed Process Documents (FPD).
+ Participate in the NADCAP accreditation process.
+ Audit special process requirements at external suppliers.
+ Perform new approval requests for new suppliers and new processes.
+ Support the external supply chain with problem-solving and cost reduction efforts.
+ Conduct supplier process approvals.
+ Provide technical support for special processes.
+ Interact consistently with both customer and supplier contacts.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
+ 3+ years of experience with metallurgy or coatings.
+ Experience in process development to ensure quality optimization.
+ Experience with quality auditing, quality control, PPAP, first article inspection, supplier quality, process optimization, heat treat, anodizing, and NADCAP.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in the aerospace industry.
+ Knowledge of special processes such as coatings, heat treat, non-conventional machining, shot peening, plating, or chemical processes like anodizing.
Work Environment
The position is based in an office environment with common interactions with manufacturing. There may be occasional travel to customer sites to evaluate processes and assist in improving issues. The role is one of two in this capacity and part of a quality team of six.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $89500.00 - $95600.00/yr.
