    The Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) at the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric & Earth Science has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Senior Research Associate I position at NOAA’s Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (NOAA/AOML). The successful applicant will be responsible for coordinating complex scientific and technical projects across multiple teams and partners. This position will oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of research initiatives, ensuring that project deliverables and milestones are achieved on time and within scope. The position is part-time with an expectation to work 16 hours per week. The incumbent will be under the general supervision of the Director of CIMAS and will work closely with principal investigators, program managers, and external collaborators to establish clear project plans, track progress, identify risks, and implement solutions to maintain momentum toward strategic goals.

     

    SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:●Develop, implement, and manage scientific research project plans, including deliverables,milestones, and timelines.●Monitor project progress; identify risks and challenges; implement corrective actions to ensuresuccess.●Manage project budgets, including allocation of funds, expenditure tracking, and preparation offinancial reports to support research goals.●Coordinate across internal teams, leadership, and external partners to align objectives andmaintain clear communication.●Prepare regular research project progress updates, presentations, and reports for sponsors,stakeholders, and senior leadership.●Ensure compliance with institutional, sponsor, and federal requirements related to projectexecution and reporting.●Support proposal development, contract management, and documentation of lessons learned toimprove future project performance.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:●Applicants must possess a master’s degree or higher in oceanography, meteorology or a relatedfield from an accredited university.●Demonstrated proficiency in project management methodologies and tools is essential.●Proficiency in using Smartsheet or Google Sheets for project tracking and data management.●Strong organizational and communication skills are required to translate technical objectives intoactionable plans, facilitate cross-team collaboration, and provide regular updates to leadership.
