Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Air Force Recreational Area, Fort Tuthill. Must possess Wilderness First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certifications (or equivalents). Must possess the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle with attached trailer. Availability to work uncommon work schedule including weekends and holidays. Responsibilities Manages daily operations for the Outdoor Adventure Program (OAP) and equipment rental services while providing regular support to lodging operations. Plans, organizes, and executes a wide range of year-round outdoor recreation programs including water- and land-based activities, multi-day trips, day programs, on-site events, and instructional activities. Program planning includes risk assessments, detailed itineraries, permit coordination, transportation planning, menu planning, and after-action reporting. Collects and evaluates customer feedback to shape future programming and recommends new activities based on demand, resources, past programs, and trends. Oversees OAP guides, volunteers, and support staff by assigning work, reviewing performance, ensuring training in emergency procedures and customer service, and maintaining accountability during all trips and events. Serves as trip leader for outdoor programs and maintains responsibility for participant safety, logistics, and equipment. Operates 12-15 passenger vans and trailers, rig trucks, and other vehicles to transport patrons and gear. Manages the equipment rental operation, ensuring all equipment is serviceable, clean, and accounted for. Trains staff in equipment fitting, inspection, maintenance, and accountability. Tracks inventory, conducts pre- and post-rental inspections with customers, and purchases replacement equipment and supplies as needed. Handles cash transactions, computer operations, and rental documentation. Provides direct customer service by answering phones, assisting patrons with rentals and program selections, greeting guests, supporting coffee bar sales, and completing lodging transactions when needed. Performs preventative and minor maintenance on rental gear and assists with general facility upkeep, including maintaining clean and organized work areas, supporting lodging operations, and helping with grounds and building maintenance. Coordinates large group activities, special events, self-guided programs, and contracted (professional) guided programs, ensuring smooth operation across rental, OAP, lodging, and facility functions. Qualifying Experience: Must possess experience in planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating outdoor adventure programs or other practical experience which has provided a working familiarity and knowledge of the procedures and programs followed in group activities of a recreation program. Experience must include experience in white water guiding techniques, swift water rescue and boatmanship. Must possess skill in dealing with public. Must be able to work exposed to a variety of cold or hot weather. Must possess Wilderness First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certifications (or equivalents). Must possess the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle with attached trailer. Must possess a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record with no major violations. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
