Job Title: Lathe Operator

Job Description

This position focuses on precision machining, turning raw materials into accurate, high-quality components. It requires strong technical skills, the ability to interpret detailed specifications, and a commitment to maintaining safety and efficiency throughout the production process.

Responsibilities

+ Review work orders and blueprints via shop computer.

+ Record job hours and scan badge for time tracking.

+ Perform light CNC programming, set up tooling, and adjust machine settings.

+ Operate CNC and manual lathes to fabricate precision parts.

+ Load raw materials and conduct test runs for accuracy.

+ Inspect parts to ensure quality standards.

+ Maintain and clean equipment and work area.

+ Report defective materials or equipment issues.

Essential Skills

+ Technical school accreditation or skilled trades program and/or 2–4 years of experience operating CNC mills, lathes, and manual machines.

+ Solid understanding of machining processes and techniques.

+ Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and blueprints.

+ Strong communication skills to understand assignments in electronic, written, or verbal form.

+ Attention to detail with knowledge of machinery operation and maintenance.

+ Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting equipment issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Ability to program a machine is a significant plus.

+ Ability to stand for extended periods; occasional walking.

+ Frequent use of hand and finger dexterity.

+ Occasional bending, stooping, or kneeling.

+ Strong verbal communication and hearing ability.

+ Visual acuity for operating equipment, reading technical data, and using shop computers.

+ Ability to safely lift, push, or carry items over 50 lbs.

+ Comfortable working near moving mechanical parts.

+ Tolerance for exposure to fumes (e.g., mineral spirits, cleaning solutions).

+ Ability to work in environments with loud noise (e.g., machine operations).

Work Environment

2nd Shift - 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM. Modern, well-maintained production floor with high cleanliness standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marlboro, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
