These positions may be filled as either NH-1550-03 Computer Scientist, NH-855-03 Electronics Engineer, or NH-801-03 General Engineer The primary purpose of these positions is to serve as an experienced Computer Scientist or Engineer evaluating and solving the complex, technical software problems specific to the program - the air-based leg of America's Nuclear Triad. Responsibilities Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking multiple full-time Computer Scientist and Engineers to work on the Software Team at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. DUTIES: Utilize computer science or engineering skills to develop and deliver safe, secure, reliable, and certifiable software. Perform technical design and reviews, and address issues with software deliveries from contractors. Generate and execute technical plans and requirements management. Research and respond to software architecture technical design and implementation questions. Apply Digital Engineering (DE) principles and achieve authoritative virtualization to replace, automate, or shorten real-world prototyping and testing, to provide unprecedented speed and agility for the Air Force nuclear program. Develop and field innovative experimental platforms, diagnostic equipment, and high-performance computers that build on past test data to model and simulate the internal dynamics of nuclear weapons. Coordinate with government and contractor stakeholders as part of an Agile/Lean software development enterprise. Analyze, evaluate, and report on software test data and metrics. DESIRED SKILLS: At least three years of experience in computer science or engineering disciplines such as electronics or general engineering. Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) management, using Agile project management principles and practices. Experience with design/evaluation of large, complex software architecture using Unified Modeling Language (UML) and/or Systems Modeling Language (SysML). Skill in coding/developing software for either large enterprise information systems or complex electrical mechanical systems using contemporary software languages (e.g. C/C++, Python, Rust, GO, JavaScript, C#, Java, etc.). Experience in conducting analyses, reviews, and special studies of software technologies (to include cost analyses). Experience with software test design and result analysis. Professional knowledge of engineering, mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and/or other scientific concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures. 2. Knowledge and understanding of agency, AF, Department of Defense (DoD) and national-level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to assigned program(s) and/or project(s). 3. Knowledge of security procedures to maintain control of classified material. 4. Skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify, investigate, resolve complex issues or problems, and modify standard practices and techniques to solve complex interrelated problems. 5. Skill, judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and ability to foresee the impact of changing technology. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
