Please submit a cover letter and resume as part of the application process. *Position Information:* Contracted Student Internship: Environmental Justice Intern Start/End Date: 1/20/2026 - 4/3/2026 Salary Rate: $0.00 (UNPAID Internship) Weekly Hours: 10 hours Number of Openings: 1 position This internship is unpaid and designed to support students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in the field. Interns may be eligible to earn academic credit through their college or university. *General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:* The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is seeking an intern for the Spring 2026 season to work 10 hours per week. The candidate will work with DCR's Senior Director of Environmental Justice to learn about the agency’s strategies and work on environmental justice (EJ), language access, and public involvement. A particular focus for the intern will be on language access and will work on projects such as streamlining how DCR offers document translation services and language interpretation services to the public and working with the interpretive services team to develop a self-guided tour to pilot at a state park. As part of this project, the intern would work with on-the-ground staff, DCR's translation vendor, and with park staff to develop the content and implement the pilot program. The intern may assist with other projects, time permitting, such as assisting in the update of DCR's language access plan, developing a digital story map, and tracking EJ related program implementation. *Detailed Duties and Responsibilities:* * Processing document translation requests, coordinating between the requestor and the translation vendor. * Working with the interpretive services staff to develop material for a self-guided tour that can be translated and piloted at a DCR state park. * Assisting with updates to DCR’s language access plan. * Other tasks related to environmental justice and public involvement activities, upon request, time permitting. *Preferred Qualifications:* Experience with environmental justice principles, issues, or programming, which may include language access services and public engagement, is desired, though not required. Applicants who are motivated to learn about these topics and contribute to the agency’s work within these areas will be prioritized.
