Please submit a cover letter and resume as part of the application process. *Position Information:* Contracted Student Internship: Digital Accessibility Intern Start/End Date: 1/20/2026 - 4/3/2026 Salary Rate: $0.00 (UNPAID Internship) Weekly Hours: 10 hours Number of Openings: 1 position This internship is unpaid and designed to support students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in the field. Interns may be eligible to earn academic credit through their college or university. *General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:* The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is seeking to hire an intern for the Spring 2026 season to work 10 hours per week. The candidate will work with DCR's Deputy Communications Director to create an “accessibility first” mindset at DCR. This work will include learning about the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II, particularly focusing on digital accessibility. The intern will work on DCR’s strategy to meet digital accessibility standards that go into effect on April 24, 2026, and will help provide guidance to DCR staff, including working one on one with staff to make sure all internal and external communications meet these accessibility standards. The intern may assist with other digital communication projects, time permitting. *Detailed Duties and Responsibilities:* * Learning about the digital accessibility standards for the state of Massachusetts. * Supporting a digital accessibility working group within DCR. * Developing strategies for supporting DCR staff in adopting and implementing digital accessibility best practices. * Working with DCR staff in troubleshooting digital accessibility with their projects. * Other tasks related to digital accessibility activities, upon request and time permitting. *Preferred Qualifications:* Experience with digital accessibility guidance and best practices, particularly in working with Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat. Applicants without this direct experience who are motivated to learn, enjoy working with people, and are tech savvy, will be considered. Motivation to contribute to the agency’s work around digital accessibility within these areas will be prioritized.
