Job Title: Aerial Lineman – Fiber Optic Construction
Position Overview:
Reporting directly to the Fiber Construction Supervisor and/or Manager, the Aerial Lineman is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of aerial fiber optic infrastructure. This role requires working at heights, operating bucket trucks, climbing poles, and adhering to strict safety practices and industry standards. The Aerial Lineman ensures efficient, safe, and high-quality fiber optic deployment.
Travel:
Some travel is required for these positions; per diem provided.
Key Responsibilities
+ Install, repair, and maintain aerial fiber optic cables and related infrastructure.
+ Operate bucket trucks and aerial lifts safely.
+ Perform pole climbing and cable lashing tasks.
+ Interpret construction drawings, utility maps, and fiber installation plans.
+ Ensure compliance with NESC and TIA industry standards.
+ Document work using digital tools (smartphones, tablets, laptops).
Required Skills
+ Fiber optic installation and splicing.
+ Equipment operation (bucket trucks, aerial lifts).
+ Site management and troubleshooting.
+ Strong understanding of aerial construction techniques.
Qualifications
+ Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or trade certification in telecommunications preferred.
+ Experience: Minimum 2 years in aerial construction and fiber optic cable installation.
+ Licenses: Valid driver’s license required; CDL Class A or B strongly preferred.
+ Ability to pass background checks, drug screenings, motor vehicle checks, and DOT physical exams.
Preferred Certifications
+ Bucket truck and aerial lift operation.
+ Pole climbing certification.
+ OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety.
+ First Aid/CPR.
Technical Skills
+ Proficient in aerial fiber optic installation techniques, pole framing, cable lashing, strand placement, and anchoring.
+ Ability to interpret construction drawings and utility maps.
+ Familiarity with NESC and TIA standards.
Physical Requirements
+ Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and at elevated heights.
+ Lift and handle materials/equipment up to 75 lbs.
+ Comfortable climbing poles and operating aerial equipment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Columbus, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41280.00 - $61920.00/yr.
