TEKsystems is seeking mid-level datacenter technicians for a long term opportunity with our client in Idaho.
Employment Type: Full-Time Contract - W2
Shift: Day/Night/Rotating
Pay Rate: Dependent on Experience, room to negotiate.
This position is onsite in the Treasure Valley. Applicants must be local and authorized to work in the USA for any employer without sponsorship.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Data Center Technician to join our team and ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of our data center operations. This position offers opportunities to work on advanced infrastructure projects and mentor junior staff.
What You’ll Do
Core Responsibilities (Level 2):
+ Install, upgrade, and decommission servers, network devices, and storage systems.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and connectivity issues within SLA.
+ Perform routine maintenance tasks, including firmware updates and cable management.
+ Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) and report anomalies.
+ Maintain accurate inventory and documentation of equipment and changes.
+ Assist with rack layout planning and power/cooling capacity checks.
+ Follow strict security and compliance protocols for access and data handling.
+ Provide on-site support for remote teams during deployments or incidents.
Advanced Responsibilities (Level 3):
+ Lead escalated troubleshooting for hardware, network, and power issues.
+ Coordinate large-scale deployments, migrations, and capacity expansions.
+ Perform root cause analysis for recurring incidents and recommend improvements.
+ Validate and implement changes in alignment with change management processes.
+ Monitor and optimize power, cooling, and space utilization.
+ Develop and maintain detailed documentation and SOPs for operational tasks.
+ Train and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 technicians.
+ Liaise with vendors for hardware support and warranty claims.
What We’re Looking For
Level 2 Qualifications:
+ 2+ years of experience in IT hardware support or data center operations.
+ Familiarity with server hardware, networking basics, and structured cabling.
+ Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in confined spaces.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
+ Basic understanding of ticketing systems and ITIL processes.
Level 3 Qualifications:
+ 4+ years of experience in data center operations or infrastructure support.
+ Deep knowledge of server architecture, networking, and storage systems.
+ Experience with structured cabling standards and power distribution.
+ Familiarity with monitoring tools and environmental management systems.
+ Strong leadership and communication skills.
+ Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Network+, or vendor-specific (Dell, Cisco) preferred.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
