Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled Environment Artist to craft immersive, visually stunning environments for interactive experiences. This role requires a strong focus on realism, while also demonstrating versatility across a range of styles—from photorealistic to stylized. The ideal candidate has a diverse portfolio showcasing adaptability, creativity, and technical expertise in building compelling worlds.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Design and develop detailed 3D environments that balance realism with artistic vision.
+ Create assets for diverse settings, including natural landscapes, architectural spaces, and stylized worlds.
+ Collaborate with art directors and designers to ensure environments align with creative and technical requirements.
+ Prepare concept sketches, blockouts, and final models for production.
+ Optimize assets for performance without compromising visual fidelity.
+ Work across the full production pipeline—from pre-production to final delivery.
Required Skills:
+ Strong artistic sense with the ability to create realistic and stylized environments.
+ Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Maya, Blender, and game engines (Unity or Unreal Engine).
+ Solid understanding of lighting, composition, and material creation for realistic rendering.
+ Ability to adapt to different art styles and maintain consistency across projects.
+ Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Education & Experience:
+ Associate’s degree in design or related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
+ 3–5 years of experience in environment art for games or interactive media.
+ At least one shipped title with a focus on environmental or prop design.
+ Experience with both hard-surface and organic modeling.
+ Familiarity with PBR workflows and optimization for real-time rendering.
+ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and take on multiple roles when needed.

This is a Contract position based out of Burlingame, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
