We're looking for a Human Resources Specialist to join our team.
This position functions as the Discipline Specialist and provides critical support and advanced-level duties in the area of performance management and discipline. Discipline duties require extensive knowledge of program areas of investigative techniques/strategy and skill in written communication.

Minimum Qualifications
Six years of human resources experience; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of human resources experience; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus three years of human resources experience; OR
An advanced degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, industrial and organizational psychology, organizational behavior, or a Juris Doctorate plus two years of human resources experience.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Designation as a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Counsels with managers and supervisors regarding the documentation of substandard performance/behavior, and the use of such documentation within the progressive discipline structure to correct performance problems.
+ Reviews draft of disciplinary letters.
+ Provides essential information to investigative staff regarding administrative investigations.
+ Provides guidance to Appointing Authorities in matters concerning suspensions.
+ Reviews annual evaluations.
+ Acts a backup for processing unemployment claims.
+ Performs other duties as needed.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment
Work Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.
Work Location: East Baton Rouge Parish
