Role Purpose
The Engineering Assistant is an experienced professional with thorough knowledge of and some experience with electric utility facility relocation and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) processes. This position is responsible for facilitating all statewide utility relocation projects. Works with utility relocation engineer, right-of-way agents, operations personnel, distribution engineering personnel, and governmental affairs to address all requests from LA DOTD. Assist the utility relocation engineer with all tasks from reception of requests to final payment reception and project closure.

+ Works closely with and develops relationships with state and local governments to stay abreast of planned road construction projects.
+ Receives requests from LA DOTD and incorporates them into Cleco process, tracks them, and issues consolidated reports and budgets as required.
+ Assists with the design, bidding, construction, and project management activities of utility relocation projects.
+ Works closely with other departments within Cleco and external contractors to accomplish project, departmental, and company goals in a timely and economical manner.
+ Assists in the annual preparation of the Utility Relocation budget outlining the Cleco contribution versus reimbursable amounts for all utility relocation projects and keeps the budget updated.
+ Ensures that Utility Relocation Agreements (URA) are accurate, complete, and properly executed.
+ Ensures that all project data including drawings, cost estimates and correspondence are available as needed to meet deadlines as set by LA DOTD or other entity.
+ Tracks invoicing to expedite Cleco reimbursements.
+ Files all Utility Relocation Agreement (URA) contracts in the Cleco Records Center within 1 week of receiving approved numbered contract from LA DOTD or other entity.
Qualifications
Required Education, Skills & Experience
+ Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology or related field
+ 0-3+ years of related experience
+ Business acumen pertaining to the Utility industry
+ Knowledge of leading practices for their practice area
+ Planning and project management skills
+ Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job
+ Proficient at functioning effectively within a team environment, present ideas and opinions in a respective and collegial manner
