Job Description

A client of Insight Global is seeking a Mid Level Network Engineer with expertise to support a large federal client in Arlington, VA. As a Mid-Level Network Engineer, your day-to-day will involve designing and implementing secure, scalable hybrid network architectures that integrate cloud platforms like AWS and Azure with on-premises systems to support DoD operations. You’ll configure and deploy networking hardware and virtual appliances, optimize routing and segmentation for high availability, and enforce Zero Trust principles in compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies. Daily tasks include troubleshooting complex network issues, collaborating with cybersecurity and DevSecOps teams, managing infrastructure-as-code deployments, and ensuring secure communications across classified environments such as SIPRNet and JWICS. You’ll also monitor network performance, apply patches, maintain documentation, and participate in accreditation processes like RMF and CCRI assessments—all while leading integration initiatives and supporting Tier II/III escalations.

Skills and Requirements

• TS/SCI

• Bachelors Degree in a related field

• 5 years of experience in Network Engineering, or implementation experience with a focus on voice, video, and infrastructure in secure DoD environments

• Strong understanding of network protocols, IP addressing, and QoS related to voice and video traffic

• Familiarity with STIG application, RMF processes, and DoD cybersecurity frameworks

• Experience with cloud networking in AWS, Azure, or GCP

• Hands-on with cloud security controls: security groups, network ACLs, WAFs, and private endpoints

• Scripting proficiency (Terraform, Python, PowerShell) for automation and IaC

• IAT Level II Certified • DoD 8570 IAT Level III certification; CISSP or equivalent certification

• Cisco CCNP, AWS Advanced Networking Specialty, or equivalent certifications.

• Experience with SD-WAN, VPNs, and hybrid cloud connectivity (Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, etc.)

• Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture and NIST 800-207

• Familiarity with Special Access Program security requirements
