Job Description

We are seeking an On-Prem Infrastructure Architect to lead the design and deployment of a new on-premises IT environment using a modular “data center in a box” approach. This role involves reviewing existing hardware, architecting a roadmap, and standing up all core infrastructure components—servers, virtualization (Hyper-V or VMware), networking, and domain services.

You will administer Microsoft Active Directory, including domain controllers, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and authentication systems, ensuring secure, scalable, and resilient operations. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with virtualization technologies, Windows Server environments, and automation tools, and thrives in a small, agile team delivering enterprise-class solutions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities –

• Virtualization & Infrastructure:

• Design, deploy, and optimize hardware infrastructure supporting virtualization (servers, storage, networking)

• Manage and maintain virtualization platforms to ensure high availability and performance

• Implement, manage and monitor high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies for virtualized environments o Administer standalone on-premises servers at remote locations

• Participate in cost analysis reviews for new workloads (cloud vs. on-prem)

• Active Directory & Identity Services:

• Administer Microsoft Active Directory, domain controllers, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and authentication services

• Manage domain controller replication, site topology, and AD schema

• Support hybrid identity environments integrated with Azure

• Automation & Scripting:

• Develop PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks

• Maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform or Bicep

• Support & Collaboration:

• Provide escalated support to 1st and 2nd tier IT staff

• Resolve infrastructure issues in coordination with internal teams and third-party vendors

• Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and best practices

• Contribute to project planning and solution delivery aligned with business goals

Skills and Requirements

• 3+ years of on-prem infrastructure engineering experience

• Experience designing and deploying virtualization in a Hyper-V environment

• Understanding of networking as it relates to virtualization (VLANs, vSwitches, VXLAN, etc.)

• Hands on Microsoft Active Directory administration experience including -

• Domain controllers, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and authentication services
