Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Component Engineer – Memory Specialist to play a critical technical role focused on ensuring the reliability, availability, and compliance of memory components used in networking products. This position bridges engineering design, supply chain, and quality assurance, supporting both new product introduction (NPI) and sustaining activities. You’ll be the subject matter expert for memory technologies, driving component selection, lifecycle management, and risk mitigation to keep products competitive and robust.
What You'll Do:
Partner with Design Engineers, Supply Chain, and NPI teams to qualify memory components for new and sustaining products.
Research and recommend memory parts (DRAM, Flash, etc.) that meet performance, cost, availability, and volume production needs.
Manage component lifecycle: monitor EOL risks, identify substitutes, and ensure supply continuity.
Assign risk ratings in PLM systems based on sourcing, lifecycle, and quality factors.
Review and compare datasheets for voltage, timing, interface specs, and software compatibility.
Ensure compliance with RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, EMI/EMC standards.
Administer ECOs, MCOs, and PCNs in Agile PLM and maintain accurate documentation.
Collaborate with suppliers to understand technology roadmaps and qualify new parts.
Support 50% sustaining / 50% NPI activities:
Sustaining: Reduce cost, mitigate supply risk, qualify alternates.
NPI: Qualify new memory components and suppliers, ensure requirements alignment.
PR: $75-$85/hr.

Skills and Requirements
-BS in Mechanical Engineering (or related)
-10+ years of related experience or 5+ years in electro-mechanical component engineering within a networking industry.
-Strong PLM experience (Agile or Propel) managing BOMs cradle-to-grave.
-Expertise in component lifecycle management, risk assessment, and supplier engagement.
-Ability to work cross-functionally with hardware design and supply chain teams. -Experience with liquid cooling systems, thermal management (heat sinks).
-Design experience with Creo/ProE, sheet metal hardware.
-Familiarity with ECO/BOM processes, PDMLink (Windchill).
-Hands-on experience with shock, vibe, EMC testing.
