Job Description

A client of Insight Global is seeking an ISSE to support a large Army program. We are seeking a highly skilled Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to lead hands-on implementation of configuration management (CM) tools and security controls in a hybrid cloud environment. This role is 75% technical execution and 25% documentation, with a dedicated RMF specialist handling most compliance tasks. Early deliverables include researching and implementing CM tools, conducting R&D to determine appropriate security controls, and building CI/CD pipelines from scratch with strong automation. Success will be measured by delivering finalized tool recommendations within six months and a working prototype with usage documentation by twelve months. The ISSE will collaborate closely with developers, security engineers, and program managers to secure OpenStack-based infrastructure through network segmentation, identity management, encryption, and container security (Docker/Kubernetes). Responsibilities include heavy scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell), Linux hardening and troubleshooting, patch management using Landscape and Satellite, and dashboard creation in Prometheus/Grafana. Candidates should hold at least Security+ (CISSP/CASP preferred) and bring journeyman-to-expert Linux expertise. This position supports the development of a new Software Engineering Environment for the APG Software Engineering Center, with potential to become the Army-wide standard.

Skills and Requirements

• Secret Clearance

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience with IA certification per AR 25-2).

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience within the last 9 years.

• IASAE Specialty Certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M and Army IA Training Best Business Practice.

• Hands-on experience with:

• Writing Configuration Management (CM) Plans, auditing software change procedures, and verifying compliance with CM processes.

• Configuration Management tools (JIRA, Puppet, Confluence, GitHub) and scripting.

• Implementing CM processes in DEVSECOPS / Agile environments.

• Security Engineering for hybrid cloud environments (ISSE-type background).

• Patch management tools (Landscape, Satellite).

• Log management tools (Prometheus, Grafana).

• Linux OS and Linux-based applications/tools.

• Container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
