    Facilities Technician – Door Systems & Access Control Specialist

    **Location:** Devens, MA

    **Pay Rate:** $30–$34.02/hour

    **Schedule:** Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)

     

    About the Role

     

    PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a skilled **Facilities Technician** with a focus on **door systems and access control** to join our IFM team at a pharmaceutical manufacturing site in Devens, MA. This roughly 1 million sq. ft. campus includes Labs, Offices, Manufacturing, Warehousing, Critical Utility Buildings, and supporting structures.

     

    You will support operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems. While the primary focus is on door and access-related hardware, the role also involves general maintenance duties across the facility.

    Key Responsibilities

    Door Systems & Access Control:

    + Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of doors, including:

    + Dock levelers/dock locks

    + Exterior sliding gates

    + Motor-operated roll-up doors

    + Interlocking man doors

    + Storefront glass entrance doors

    + Commercial man doors

    + Hollow metal doors with low-energy operators (Knowing Act/Automatic Doors)

    + Rolling steel fire doors (utilities)

    + Airwalls (OCC Partition Doors)

    + High-speed roll-up doors

    + Repair and maintain all door types as requested

    + Install, configure, and maintain electronic access control components (proximity sensors, mag locks, e-strike/latch, key access)

    + Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning door hardware and access control devices

    + Maintain locks, locking mechanisms, closers, doors, furniture, and controllers

    + Apply knowledge of automatic and manual door systems in a cleanroom environment

    + Understand use of controls, interlocks, and door sweeps to maintain cascading pressurization

    + Provide preventative maintenance (PM) services, repairs, and testing as scheduled

    + Adhere to client SOPs for Clean Door Preventative Maintenance

    General Facility Maintenance:

    + Interior maintenance: hang pictures, install keyboard trays, repair office furniture

    + Patch and paint repairs

    + Minor plumbing repairs

    + Maintain lighting system bulbs and ballasts

    + Complete special tasks: painting, locksmith work, other client/tenant services

    + Move office furniture, machinery, equipment, and materials as requested

    + Perform facility inspections and report conditions affecting occupancy or operations

    + Maintain a clean, safe work environment and comply with all safety procedures and hazardous material policies

    + Participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational training

    + Document work performance, materials procurement, and service tasks

    + Communicate with management and Facility Services Manager regarding project timelines, workload, and issues

    + Maintain tools, equipment, parts, and supplies in clean and safe condition

    + Monitor work quality and pricing of outside contractors

    + Perform other duties as assigned

    Required Skills & Experience

    + High School diploma or GED equivalent

    + Ability to analyze operation of door/gate systems, identify malfunctions, and perform corrective action

    + Familiarity with door brands: Stanley, Dormakaba, Tormax, Chase, ASI, Schlage, or similar

    + Willingness to work in a multi-skilled team environment

    + Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality

    + Working knowledge of computer applications: Gmail, Google Docs, Word, Excel

    + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

    + Availability for overtime and call-in work as required

    Preferred / Desired Skills & Experience

    + Knowledge of GMP procedures

    + Previous work experience in lab or manufacturing environment, cGMP experience preferred

    + AAADM certification for automatic door installation, inspection, and maintenance

    Work Schedule

    + Monday–Friday

    + 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
