The Court of Administrative Hearings (CAH) seeks to hire a Data Practices Attorney. CAH is the largest of three Executive Branch Courts with over seventy-five full-time equivalents located in St. Paul and Duluth. CAH, with 34 judges, is comparable in size to the Ramsey County District Court with 32 judges. CAH has exclusive, bench trial-level jurisdiction over 200 unique areas of administrative law and workers' compensation. CAH renders justice through fair, timely and impartial hearings and high-quality dispute resolution services.
Core responsibilities of a data practices attorney include:
+ Supporting data practices program by responding to data practices requests, ensuring maintenance of data practices policies and procedures, and supporting legal review of security incidents related to data.
+ Conductinglegal and policy research.
+ Providing legal analysis and opinion.
Minimum Qualifications
+ JurisDoctorate (J.D.)
+ Currentlicense in goodstanding topractice lawintheStateofMinnesota.
AND two (2) or more years of experience which would include:
+ Legal research and analysis.
+ Experience with state and federal data privacy laws including the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act.
+ Providing legal advice to executive level leadership on complex legal issues.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Mentorship or project management experience.
+ Demonstratedcommitmenttocommunityand/orpublicservice.
+ Ability to interpret state and federal public information laws and regulations sufficient to respond to data practices requests, including collecting and analyzing data to determine its proper classification and safeguarding not public data.
+ Ability to work well as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
This is a sedentary position. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a small amount of force occasionally to move and/or transport objects. May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
