Job Description
The Sr Systems Engineer will be responsible for creating, executing & continuously enhancing automated test scripts within a highly robust, maintainable, and efficient testing framework. You will be able to bring in deep Warehouse Management / Supply Chain domain knowledge to analyze the application and testing assets to create robust and effective automated tests for in-sprint functional, non-functional, regression and deployment testing. You will employ engineering experience primarily for building, enhancing & executing automated test strategies while some manual testing will be required.
Responsibilities
Quality Engineering & Leadership
1. Define and own the QA strategy, framework, and roadmap for the Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) program across modules (Receiving, Put away, Picking, Replenishment, Shipping, Inventory, and Yard Management etc).
2. Champion “Shift-Left” and Test-Driven Development (TDD/BDD) principles to embed quality early in the SDLC.
3. Lead QA planning, estimation, and risk management for agile sprints and releases.
4. Drive test maturity using modern frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized environments.
5. Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Developers, and Architects during design and LLD reviews to ensure functional and non-functional quality.
6. Manage and mentor a distributed QA team across functional, automation, and performance domains.
7. Conduct defect triage, root-cause analysis, and implement continuous improvement loops with development and DevOps teams.
8. Deep knowledge of modern QA standards including Shift-Left, BDD & TDD frameworks, Model-Based Testing, Data & Service virtualization tools & techniques
Test Planning & Strategy
1. Plan, design and enhance automation suites and tools using Selenium, Gherkin, RestAssured, SeeTest, Squish or other open-source tools. Leverage AI tools to enhance test builds, test data, test execution.
2. Develop End to End, System/Integration, and User-focused test plans and strategies using product requirements and design documents
3. Analyzing and disintegrating software systems and coordinating with other teams to enhance the overall test design
4. Build and drive comprehensive test strategies (manual/automated) that cover all systems. Collaborate with Product and Engineering to develop a comprehensive Test Plan that validates product functionality
Testing Execution & Strategy
1. Oversee end-to-end testing lifecycle: requirement analysis, test planning, scenario design, test execution, automation, performance testing, and production validation.
2. Build and maintain API, event-driven (Pub/Sub, Kafka), and UI automation suites.
3. Define and execute performance, scalability, and reliability tests for large-scale warehouse workloads.
4. Establish data validation frameworks for high-volume transactional systems (e.g., shipment tracking, inventory sync, and RF transaction integrity).
5. Implement observability-driven QA using tools like Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or DataDog to measure real user latency and backend performance.
6. Lead mobile QA for RF handheld and React Native-based apps ensuring sub-second performance and offline-sync validation.
7. Set up, maintain and perform test automation on multiple application platforms, such as Mobile, Desktop, and Web, and building test scenarios and acceptance tests
8. Build and execute test-cases in the following areas: functional, integration, security, stability, performance, stress. Develop and execute a variety of tests to ensure compliance & quality (integration tests, performance tests, end to end tests, security tests. etc.) leveraging forward looking AI tools
9. Write, execute and refactor automated test cases with “Automation First” mindset. Build and maintain automated testing, test environments (Kubernetes) & test data
10. Refactor the development codebase for functionality, compatibility, performance, usability, and accessibility
Governance & Continuous Improvement
1. Produce and drive continuous quality improvements using metrics and dashboards (e.g., defect leakage, automation coverage, mean time to detect/fix).
2. Implement risk-based testing and chaos/resilience testing frameworks.
3. Partner with DevSecOps to integrate security and compliance testing into the QA lifecycle.
4. Ensure adherence to QA best practices, including CI/CD integration, test data management, and environment strategy.
5. Stay ahead of emerging QA trends (AI-driven testing, self-healing automation, test containers, agentic QA systems) and apply them to improve efficiency.
Contributions to Quality Engineering Practices
1. Responsible for the development of less experienced AutoZoners; mentor and teach
2. Delegate work to other Systems Engineers and Associate Systems Engineers
3. Contribute to the design of automation frameworks, automation infrastructure, and various tools.
4. Provide domain expertise to drive implementation and sustainment of an automation program that encompasses unit, integration, and end-to-end testing as appropriate. Prepare and maintain domain documentation
Qualifications
1. 10+ years in QA, with 5+ years leading QA for large enterprise or WMS/Supply Chain projects.
2. Strong understanding of WMS functional flows, inventory movements, and real-time integration with ERP/TMS/YMS systems.
3. Proven experience in test automation frameworks: Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, or similar.
4. Expertise in using code review tools like Code Rabbit, Claude Code, Gemini etc
5. Experience with API testing (Postman, RestAssured), message queue validation (Kafka, GCP Pub/Sub), and data validation using SQL/BigQuery.
6. Proficiency in performance testing tools (JMeter, Gatling, K6, LoadRunner) with an ability to simulate warehouse workloads and measure end-to-end latency.
7. Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and containerized test environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
8. Knowledge of observability and tracing tools (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Dynatrace alternatives) for QA monitoring.
9. Experience testing mobile and RF applications on Honeywell, Zebra, or Android-based devices.
10. Experience in using AI tools for quality engineering work including test case generation, test data generation, automation, code-refactoring
11. Demonstrated success in leading QA teams using Agile/Scrum or Scaled Agile (SAFe).
12. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with emphasis on root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
13. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, especially across multi-functional technical teams.
14. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Hands-on experience with GCP, Apigee, Kubernetes, and microservices testing.
2. Prior QA experience in supply chain automation systems (Dematic, Manhattan, Blue Yonder, etc.).
3. Familiarity with AI-driven QA platforms (ACCELQ AI, Testim, Mabl, Functionize).
4. Understanding of data pipelines and MLOps QA for predictive slotting or analytics features.
