    Job Description

    Under general supervision, with some latitude for independent initiative and decision making, the selected candidate will perform very responsible and complex work for the Office of Safety and Security’s Closed - Circuit Television (CCTV) Unit.

    Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    1. Assist various law enforcement entities, and other Governmental agencies, with investigations and video evidence as required.

    2. Respond 24/7 to emergency calls from CCTV supervisors through NYCHA Emergency Services Department regarding CCTV video.

    3. Appear and testify in court as to the authenticity of the video.

    4. Conduct onsite inspections of CCTV equipment.

    5. Test, troubleshoot and repair of the fiber optic cables of the CCTV system.

    6. Perform system checkup and test burns to make sure systems are running properly.

    7. Maintain and troubleshoot CCTV system issues, including repair/replace cameras, configure and install video recording equipment.

    8. Clean cameras, servers, and any equipment related to the CCTV systems.

    9. Train development staff on proper use of CCTV equipment.

    10. Troubleshoot, configure and replace switches as needed.

    11. Remote monitoring of system when time allows.

    12. Perform tasks related to layered access control.

    13. Install cyber locks/work on lock hardware.

     

    NOTE: Due to the existence of a civil service list, candidates must have permanent civil service status in the title of Maintenance Worker to be considered.

    1. This position is open on a direct transfer (lateral) basis only. It is not open on as a promotional opportunity.

    Qualifications

    1. Three years of full-time satisfactory experience as a mechanic, journeyperson or helper in the electrical trades, the mechanical trades, or the construction or maintenance of buildings; or

    2. At least two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above plus sufficient full-time training or education in the electrical, mechanical or construction trades in a trade school, technical school or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience. Six months of experience will be credited for each year of full-time acceptable training or education.
