    Overview

     

    Avon is currently seeking a Developmental Editor to develop commercial ideas and edit manuscripts for the Avon A imprint. For this role, the emphasis is on developing original content and editing manuscripts rather than seeking agent submissions.

    Responsibilities

    + Evaluates, edits, and develops commercial projects for the Avon A imprint.

    + Brainstorms ideas for new projects and reaches out to authors to write them.

    + Negotiates contracts.

    + Contributes to and participates in short and long term development and growth of thepublishing program.

    + Manages and coordinates editorial production and publication schedules.

    + Oversees fact sheet, jacket and catalog copy; reviews marketing and publicity materials.

    + Conducts and analyzes sales research.

    + Develops and maintains strong and extensive agent and author relationships.

    Qualifications

    + Minimum 5-6 years of relevant editorial or comparable industry experience.

    + Established agency contacts

    + Strong, succinct presentation skills

    + Ability to effectively communicate with all levels across the organization

    + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

    + Ability to work independently and set priorities under pressure

    + Excellent written and oral communication skills

    + Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office

    The salary range for this position is $65,000-$80,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.
