What You'll Do
+ Plans, researches, and analyzes data to support the development of Minnesota Power’s Short- and Long-Term power supply plans, transmission needs, regional energy need strategy and associated reports.
+ Ensures the state and regional power industry rules, policy, and standards are incorporated into all Utility Planning activities.
+ Uses financial and production cost models to analyze and assess information relating to investment prospects and strategies.
+ Negotiates contracts and vets current/emerging processes to develop ideas and project tactics.
+ Works internally with the Generation Operations, Transmission, Distribution, Customer Experience, Accounting, Energy Supply and Market Settlements and Pricing departments to gather and analyze relevant information in support of the Short and Long Term power supply, delivery and Load Forecast needs.
+ Provides technical knowledge in the analysis, development and maintenance of ALLETE’s short and long term Utility Planning activities including energy, load, transmission and capacity requirements.
+ Provides Utility Planning and energy purchasing recommendations and input based on studies and analyses.

What You'll Bring
+ Bachelors degree required.
+ Preferred majors include marketing, economics, finance, data or business analytics, business administration, engineering, or related field.
+ A minimum of six years experience is required, which may include but is not limited to utility sourcing, project development, consulting, data accumulation, business case cost modeling and interpretation, and finance.
+ This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
Preferred Skills & Experience
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain working relationships.
+ Expert problem solving and analytical skills.
+ Professional writing, presentation, and visualization skills.
+ Production cost model experience (e.g., Encompass or similar tool).
+ Project management experience.

The expected annual compensation range for this position is $91,000-$114,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, this position qualifies for a comprehensive benefits package, including an Incentive Program, Retirement Benefits, Medical, Dental & Vision Plans, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Account, Life Insurance, Disability, Tuition Reimbursement, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences, and more.
