    State of Idaho - Department of Administration Opportunity

     

    Come join a team of passionate and skilled professionals at the Idaho Department of Administration (Admin), a central service agency that supports state agencies through critical functions such as facilities management, public works, purchasing, risk and insurance management, and statewide employee services. Admin has an opening for a Training Specialist. This position will oversee Admin’s department-wide training and certification program, including instructional design, program evaluation, development of learning resources, and administration of Admin’s Learning Management System to support continuous learning and professional development across the organization.

     

    Mission: We serve Idaho by promoting responsible government through expert customer support.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

    • Conduct training needs assessments and develop curriculum using instructional design principles.

    • Create and deliver instructor-led, virtual, and e-learning training programs.

    • Manage the department’s Learning Management System, including course setup, tracking, and reporting.

    • Develop training materials such as lesson plans, presentations, job aids, and assessments.

    • Evaluate training effectiveness through surveys, assessments, and data analysis.

    • Maintain training schedules, records, certifications, and compliance documentation.

    • Collaborate with supervisors, subject-matter experts, and HR to support onboarding and employee development.

    • Ensure required training meets department, state, and federal standards.

    • Support organizational development initiatives and promote a culture of continuous learning.

    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (required for this position):

    • Good knowledge of training theory - This is typically gained by the completion of one upper division college-level course (at least three credits) which covered training theory OR by completing 40 hours of formal training in skills which include adult learning theory, developing performance objectives, course design and evaluation methods and presentation skills OR with at least one year of full-time work experience that required knowledge of training theory.

    • Experience performing needs assessments, developing training objectives, designing and developing coursework, and evaluating the training - This is typically gained with at least one year of experience performing needs assessments, developing training objectives, designing and developing coursework, and evaluating the training.

    • Experience designing and developing coursework across the full training lifecycle, including needs analysis, content development, facilitation planning, and post-training evaluation using surveys, assessments, and performance metrics.

    • Experience presenting training to adult groups in structured learning situations - This is typically gained with at least one year of full-time work experience that required presenting training to adult groups in structured learning situations.

    • Experience using a variety of training methods - This is typically gained with at least one year of full-time work experience that required using three different training methods.

     

    Please note: The successful candidate will be required to pass a fingerprint-based background check.

     

    This position will also interact with a diverse customer base and must be able to interact in a non-partisan manner when working in political environments.
