Job Title: Welder

Job Description

The role involves placing piece parts on assemblies in fixtures, on tables, or devices to perform welding processes. This position primarily utilizes MIG welding, but may also involve TIG or stick welding of steel assemblies and the operation of a cutting torch. The welder is responsible for the quality of job functions, which includes remaining vigilant for unsatisfactory quality of equipment parts received in their assigned work area. The welder must discontinue work and immediately notify supervision of any defects in quality. Additionally, the role requires recording and reporting work order information and production times as needed, as well as maintaining a clean and orderly working area.

Responsibilities

+ Perform welding processes using MIG, and possibly TIG or stick welding, on steel assemblies.

+ Operate cutting torch as necessary.

+ Ensure the quality of all job functions and remain alert for unsatisfactory quality of equipment parts.

+ Discontinue work and notify supervision immediately of any defects in quality.

+ Record and report work order information and production times.

+ Maintain a clean and orderly working area.

Essential Skills

+ 1+ years of experience with MIG or TIG welding in a manufacturing setting.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

+ Capability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience in blueprint reading and welding fabrication.

+ Proficiency in MIG welding and working with stainless steel.

Work Environment

This position is part of the welding and fabrication team, working in a clean and organized environment. The role is full-time, with shifts from Monday to Friday. The first shift runs from 7 AM to 3:30 PM (starting at 5 AM if needed), and the second shift runs from 3:15 PM to 1:45 AM. Welders must wear pants, steel-toed shoes, and appropriate personal protective equipment, including a welding mask (provided by the employee) and safety glasses when not in the welding hood.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of GRIMES, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $21.00/hr.
